Carriages – “Iron and Fire”

This was a very interesting listen for me. The instrumentation immediately hooked me as I am a sucker for samples cut and edited in subtly (and not so subtly) psychedelic ways, but what kept my attention Рand indeed what led me to write about this track Рwas the particular brand of folk that was added to it. Carriages, Harry Bookless and Aaron Page,  experiments by blending sampled-generated soundscapes with a very traditional vocal style derivative of classic Irish folk music. The result is an ethereal piece that allows the mind to float gently along a path cleared by the duo. I thoroughly enjoy their sound experiments and am eager to see how their style develops as the duo matures.
