Hundred Waters – “Nowhere”

“Nowhere” opens with a wonderfully crafted beat composed of an assortment of sounds that are strung together in a very organic way. The beat reminds me of the sound of silence. Not the Simon and Garfunkel classic, but literally the sound of silence. When its so quiet you can hear your own bodily functions doing their business. A micro-world that has been humming and swishing underneath the external world’s stimulus for as long as you’ve been alive. There is a regularity to the sounds used that to me intimates a heartbeat. Underneath this song is a pulse – the rushing of fluids, of energies, through canals and passages, irrigating the soul. When I listen to this track I feel as though Hundred Waters is asking me to take a moment to pay attention to the forces that maintain us all.

“Nowhere” is the bonus track on The Moon Rang Like A Bell, out 5/27 via OWSLA. You can find an assortment of Hundred Waters’ tracks here as well as a stream of The Moon Rang Like Bell.
