Inventions first piqued our interest last year with their eponymous atmospheric masterpiece. The project is comprised of the duo Matthew Cooper and Mark Smith, of Eluvium and Explosions in the Sky fame, respectively. Together their styles mesh to create music that develops quite slowly, but beautifully, like a flower gradually opening its face to the sunlight. As a master of minimalist techno Swedish producer Axell Willner, AKA The Field, is no stranger to meticulously pieced together beauty and has re-crafted Inventions’ “Peregrine” into a wondrous, soaring dance number.
“Peregrine” is a single from Inventions’ forthcoming album Maze of Woods, to be released via Temporary Residence. Promotions for the record also include a superb rework of the album’s second single, “Springworlds,” by Leyland Kirby, which can be found on the duo’s soundcloud.
