As summer picks up into full swing, some are left decompressing from their favorite festivals while others are pre-gaming the good times to come. Thankfully there are events and shows such as the ones put on by Euphonic Conceptions to bring people of all wavelengths, ages, and personalities together for gatherings similar to mini festivals. Positive vibes, creativity, and musical talent of the highest booty-shakin’ caliber come together to create an evening that is nothing short of magical and euphoric.
Last night the Electric Bare team got the chance to hit up the StillDream Pre-Party, and were honestly blown away by the beauty of this casual Thursday night soirée. Hosted at San Francisco’s own 1015 Folsom, the event kicked off in full swing featuring two separate rooms of music (main room and downtempo bass room), an upper level featuring live painting by William Avrin, Roman Villagrana, and ELLS, and local merchants selling wares that can be described as anything but ordinary.
Kicking off the evening in the main room were SF natives Ryury and SAMO SOUND BOY, whose sets got everyone on the dance floor nice and prepped for the boogie fever that was to ensue. Following their acts, Dirty Bird‘s own Christian Martin stepped up to the plate to give audience members a dose of his signature deep house sound. Known for packing big beats and entrancing his audience in a state of convulsive dance, Martin definitely set the tempo for the evening with his arsenal of unique music and Dirty Bird originals.
Meanwhile the downtempo room was poppin’ with beat makers like Kalya Scintillia, Birds of Prey, Intellitard, and one of the bay areas most promising new producers, Sixis. The room itself was alive, with audience members completely letting loose with their dance moves, yoga, and limitless emotion. Everywhere you looked you could see smiles, strangers becoming friends, and nothing but bliss. It’s moments like this that make these types of events so diverse, special, and beautiful.
Back in the main room, Booka Shade had finally appeared and really got the crowd going. The veterans of the Frankfurt electronic scene hashed out beat after beat, living up to their name while completely captivating their audience as the evening raged well into the wee hours of the morning.
Finally, before our departure from this glorious evening, we stepped back into the deep bass room to catch Kalya Scintilla’s set alongside the beautiful Eve Olution’s dance performance. The vibes were still going strong, only aided by Scintilla’s diverse sound and flow. Upon our exit from the event, we managed to snag a listen to the tribal sounds of up and coming producer, Sixis. This fresh addition to an already epic evening of quality music layered more stimulation upon where we thought no more stimulation could go. Sixis’ set left us hungry for, and looking forward to, more.
