Tennyson – “Smother”

Too cool for cool, “Smother,” the latest release from duo Tennyson is a smooth and funky jam that goes well with carefree days and spacious afternoons.  The chill beat is supplanted by a dubby bass-line that hops and skips with you through a chrome universe filled with bubbles, where everything is sleek, sharp, and streamlined and colors are caught and thrown in a state of perpetual motion. This abstract world is threaded through by Mothica’s ethereal vocals, nary a seem to be seen.

“Smother” is a jazz/bass fusion that is contributing to a new and budding type of music that I am excited to see flourishing.
