At this point when I hear a new thoughtful, earnest, dreamy track I almost expect to find out the artists are Aussies – they’ve just been so on point. Twin Caverns is the most recent in a long chain of Australian musicians I have been fortunate enough to turn my ears to. Louise Millar and Michael Macias have a style all their own. A mellow sound with space-filling bass, sparse minimal guitar work, and haunting vocals that drip with soul allude to inspiration from the likes of Little Dragon, Bon Iver and Flying Lotus while maintaining a clear originality in execution.
With three tracks released on their soundcloud and a promise of more to come, Twin Caverns seems to have successfully baited their listeners. I feel as though they are teasing the line and I can hardly wait until I’m reeled up and shown a full album. Though restless, I am excited for what they have in store.
